Matcha, matcha, matcha. It seems like we can’t hear enough about the trendy matcha latte. But what if I told you this trendy drink could be the solution to all of your problems?
Matcha contains L-Theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation and reduces anxiety levels. On the other hand, coffee increases cortisol (the stress hormone) by elevating production of ACTH at the pituitary. Increased cortisol is especially detrimental for women because it can increase sebaceous gland activity causing acne along with increasing blood sugar levels causing weight gain.
Replacing your daily coffee with a matcha latte or americano avoids all of these issues. You will experience a prolonged, stable energy throughout the day, a clearer mind, clearer skin, and more benefits.
Now, here is my tride-and-true matcha latte recipe that gets me through the day!
- Sift 3g of ceremonial grade matcha into your cup – My favorite brand is Rocky’s Matcha. I’ve found both the quality and taste are top tier.
- Add a splash of milk – I do cold mixing rather than adding hot water because I make my matchas in the morning and want to be as efficient as possible, but you can do either.
- Whisk vigorously (I use this matcha whisk.)
- Add in ice and milk of your choice. I also add cinnamon on top!
