How To Have Your Best Year In College
1. Planning

Planning, planning, planning. How many times have you heard about the importance of planning in college? It might have been many times, but seriously, implementing a good planning system into your life will elevate your college experience more than you would expect. My favorite way to do this is by time blocking on Google Calendar. This way, you are able to see exactly how much time you are spending on each priority in your life. Time is our greatest asset, and leveraging this to our greatest ability is the best thing we can do for our success, especially in college.
2. Morning Routine

The first hour after waking up is literally the blueprint for the rest of your day. When everyone else is rolling out of bed to stop at Starbucks and walk straight to class, its easy to forget that. A Guide To Her suggests you treat your morning as the most important time of your day. Create a routine that includes non-negotiables to make you feel your best all throughout the day. Our post on morning routines has a ton of idea. Watch your life transform after you master just the first hour of your day!
3. Social Groups

You are the sum of the closest five people around you, so pay attention. Figure out exactly what type of person you want to be and what interests you. Then, find groups and organizations that do exactly that. College is the perfect opportunity to surround yourself with people who think like you. Its so easy to get stuck with the same friend group and end up wondering why you aren’t feeling fulfilled socially. Make the conscious effort to cultivate those around you and treat your time and presence as a precious thing.
4. Self-Care

Taking care of yourself should not stop with your morning routine. Figure out what makes you feel and look your best. This way, you can present yourself as the best version of yourself and attract the best people into your life. College is a time when you have the freedom to figure yourself out and discover the most valuable parts of yourself. Do this by setting time aside to spend time alone, work on hobbies that light your heart up, take a bath, get yourself flowers. Simply put, go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of in every way! This way, you will be able to perform at your highest capacity in every other area of your life.
5. Do The One Thing

Tackle the one thing that you have been putting off day after day. Take control of your procrastination and realize that the most uncomfortable things in life are the ones that will help you grow the most. Apply to that summer internship you don’t think you can get, reach out to that mentor who you think will help you advance in your career, cut off the friendship that feels like its dragging you down. No one else is coming around to make you do the things that are most important. Get in control once and for all this year!
