Getting ready for summer travel but don’t want to ditch your fitness goals? Here is how to factor in your workout routine while traveling!

I am a huge believer in balance. You should enjoy life in every way possible, and see as many places as possible. However, while traveling, I like to feel my best. Its possible to feel your best and have the best time traveling simultaneously! Here is what has helped me the most while trying to create balance during my travels.
This post is all about how to stick with a routine while traveling.
Our routines while we are home and in our element are usually fairly strict and done like clockwork. When we travel, we are thrown out of our element and forced to get used to a new normal for a certain period of time. This is why it feels so tricky to keep up with a routine while abroad. With some planning and consideration, we can create new routines that are able to blend with our new schedules! Here are the tips that have helped me the most!
1. Plan ahead
Just like we plan our travels and the places we really want to see, we have to plan ahead on our fitness routines as well. Research and see if your hotel or Airbnb has a gym, see if there’s a park you could walk around in nearby where you’re staying, and see if anywhere close by has the celery juice you can’t go a day without. This way, you will be prepared in advance and will know exactly what to do when you get there!
2. Master balance
Being on vacation is the best time to practice balance. You don’t have to be on a strict routine to see results, the same way that you can indulge a little bit while still making healthy choices overall. If you want some ice cream after dinner, maybe take a ten minute walk afterwards to avoid your blood sugar spiking as much. There’s no need to restrict yourself or only allow yourself to do things under certain circumstances. Simply just add in more healthy habits to create the balance you seek!
3. Opt For Easier
Rather than putting so much pressure on yourself, always opt for the easier option while traveling. Going on a few walks throughout the day can give you the same results as the intense workout you usually do at your home gym. Cut yourself some slack! There are easier ways to achieve the results that you want. You can alter your routine without destroying your results.
4. Use self compassion
Creating balance in your life is an amazing way to practice self compassion. We can let ourselves do what makes us happy and feel good at the same time. If you missed the early workout you planned because you were out late, its okay! We always have tomorrow for another chance. Instead of beating yourself up, use what you wish you would’ve done as motivation to work harder on it the next chance you get!
5. Have the cake!
Last but not least, have the cake! Try all the foods, go to all the parties, do it all! You don’t want to look back and regret missing out on experiences that you may have only had once. If I can leave you with one message, I would say that instead of restricting on things, always opt for adding in more healthy habits and things that will get you closer to your goals.
